What is a Bed and Breakfast

A Bed and Breakfast, often called a B&B, is defined as an establishment that offers accommodation and breakfast, typically in a private home with a few rooms offered for rent to short term guests. But to countless worldwide travelers who make the B&B a key part of their vacations, a Bed and Breakfast is much, much more. Most Bed & Breakfast inns are owned by families or innkeepers and this small business is their livelihood and their home. This fact creates a unique environment of hospitality in B&B inns that is timeless and unmatched in today's world. B&B innkeepers strive to meet each guest's specific needs, to connect with guests over a warm meal, to provide guests valuable local advice so that they enjoy their visit to the fullest, and “ perhaps most of all “ to leave guests with a memorable visit that will encourage them to come back year after year.

The term "Bed and Breakfast" originates from the United Kingdom but it is now used across the world for this thriving sector of the travel industry. In the United States and elsewhere, B&B inns compete with hotels, motels, vacation rentals and other lodging alternatives. The competitive advantage that a B&B has over all other accommodation options is clearly personal service. Guests who chose to stay at a Bed and Breakfast are treated as family (or better than family, as some could argue!).

Bed and Breakfast innkeepers are local experts and help their guests to skip tourist traps and truly enjoy the best of their respective area. B&B innkeepers can help you find things like the hiking trail with the sublime scenic views, the antique shop with the best selection, the family-run restaurant with unrivaled local fare, the neighborhood place to shop¦ the list is endless. With this advice that surpasses that of a concierge at even the priciest luxury hotel, a quality Bed and Breakfast can be found to match any traveler's budget. Deals often vary by season, and most locations have a selection of B&B inns in all price ranges.
